Ritchie Blacker live at Grianan of Aileach – 2021

Ritchie Blacker – DJ Set (Live from Grianan of Aileach, Ireland), Anjunadeep

Genre: Deep House, Melodic House

And finally something cool from the Electronia and EDM area. Producer Richie Blacker from Ireland creates a completely independent and unmistakable sound mix from post-technoid house, rave and the one or other cautious cross-reference to native folk. The video (1080p) scores with immensely impressive sounds and Ritchie plays with the appropriate music into the currently rising sun in front of a beautiful backdrop in Ireland. With the use of camera drones, this video-set gets more depth and space. Is there a better way to start a day?

Ritchie Blacker

If you want to get to the top with some resounding bang, you can’t do better than Richie Blacker did. A producer forged in the Irish underground club and rave scene has blossomed into one of the most exciting new artists of recent years. A DJ and producer who creates new and independent music, not ignoring the rave scene of the 90s.

The result is a soundclash of house-, techno- and rave-recordings from the early 90s, which he merges to a very own sound-mixture. His EP ‚Summer of Rave‘, released in July 2020, then turned into a game-changer for Ritchie. ‚Summer of Rave‘, is a nostalgic rave trip that has been shoved into the melodic house scene and sounds completely new and like it’s never been heard before.

It was exclusively licensed to Skream with this release, who played the thing a year before it was released. This EP was considered as a secret weapon for festivals and clubs, which could make the party-hungry crowd bouncing and jumping. A little later Skream decided to release the record on his label „Of Unsound Mind“ together with two other euphoric rave tracks. Even before its release, there were enthusiastic reactions – and a viral response on social media and subsequent spins on Radio One by people like Danny Howard and Pete Tong.

After the track was released, it shot up the Beatport charts to #1 and stayed in those lofty heights for a month. Richie Blacker was no stranger to the Beatport charts, as his „Mess Express EP“ (on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label) and „Voices in the Echo“ (on Skream’s Of Unsound Mind label) had already jumped to the top of the Melodic House & Techno charts and were being played at many festivals at this time by DJs like Sasha, Jody Wisternoff, James Grant, Hernan Cattaneo, Dee Montero and many more.

Since then Richie Blacker has been ubiquitous in the playlists of the relevant stations and receives heavy rotation from DJs like Danny Howard, Pete Tong, John Digweed, Anja Schneider and many others – and now he has been signed by the UK cult label Anjunadeep.

I have put together a playlist of the best tracks by Ritchie Blacker for you:
